Every insurance plan is different. Your insurance plan will be billed for the doctor/ nurse practitioner services provided and for any counseling sessions that you attend. The office visit does not cover the cost of the medications.

Every insurance plan is different. Often, it is difficult to know how much your medication will cost when you go to the pharmacy. Specialists cannot guarantee that your pharmacy will provide you your medication without a prior authorization.

Patients may be denied service if they have a balance on their accounts. Full payment is due at the time of service.

Payment may be made with a credit card or cash. Checks are not accepted.

At all appointments, you will see the medical provider and participate in a group counseling appointment. Most appointments run 90 minutes.

In the first 4 months of treatment, patients are expected to have an appointment twice a month. If the patient achieves compliance with the program, they will "graduate" to monthly appointments. The frequency of appointments is at the discretion of the medical providers.

Compliance means that the patient is attending their appointments, remaining free of illicit substances, and participating in counseling.

Yes, Specialists MAT offers individual and group counseling. In addition, we have relationships with providers who can offer intensive outpatient (IOP) and case managers for patients requiring more attention.

Specialists MAT  recognizes that patients may have barriers (i.e., childcare, court appearances, ect.) to treatment that may preclude full participation. Patient needs are evaluated, and an individualized plan of care will be instituted to accommodate patients with barriers to treatment.

Specialists MAT is not in the business of punishing patients. We are here to help. Patients will be held accountable for their actions. You will continue to work with our medical and behavioral providers to achieve a meaningful recovery free of illicit substances.

Patients with substance use disorders don't always have easy access to psychiatric services, so at Specialists MAT we do treat psychiatric comorbidities such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and bipolar disorder. Therapies include counseling and management with medications.

SpecialistsMAT has partnered with preferred pharmacies throughout Louisville and Elizabethtown.  Avoid the stigma and hassle patients often encounter when going to the pharmacy.  

It is a common misconception, but that is not how medication-assisted treatment works. What MAT does is provide relief from withdrawal symptoms, and it blocks receptors that are stimulated by certain drugs. So long as the patient continues treatment under medical supervision, there is less of a chance of developing a new addiction.

Yes. All drugs used have to be approved by the FDA. We will evaluate the patient's addiction and current health before determining which medication will be the most effective choice for them. We will ensure any medication used for MAT does not interfere with any medication the patient is currently taking or pre-existing conditions.

No. Federal law states that medication-assisted treatment must work in combination with counseling and therapy. The medication reduces the negative effects of withdrawal on the body, while counseling and therapy address any mental and behavioral issues that make the patient more vulnerable to addiction.
