SpecialistsMAT, PSC — Patient Text Messaging Program
Effective date: October 16, 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern the SpecialistsMAT Patient Text Messaging Program (the "Program") operated by Specialists Medication Assisted Treatment, PSC ("SpecialistsMAT," "we," "us"), 110 Chase Way, Suite #2, Elizabethtown, KY 42701. By opting in, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Program description
The Program sends text messages to patients and their authorized representatives about appointments and visits: reminders, confirmations, scheduling changes, check-in and in-office instructions, requests to contact our office, and general practice notices. The Program does not send marketing or promotional messages.
2. Consent and opt-in
You join the Program only by affirmatively opting in — by checking the text messaging box on our consent form (paper or electronic) or by giving verbal or written consent that our staff records. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of receiving care or any service from SpecialistsMAT. By opting in, you confirm you are the account holder of the mobile number provided or are authorized by the account holder to receive messages at that number.
3. Message frequency and cost
Message frequency varies based on your appointment schedule and visit activity. Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier plan. SpecialistsMAT does not charge for Program messages.
4. How to opt out
You may cancel at any time. Reply STOP (or CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, or STOPALL) to any message. You will receive one message confirming your opt-out, and no further messages will be sent unless you opt in again. You may also opt out by calling telling our front desk. To rejoin, reply START or ask our staff.
5. Supported carriers and delivery
The Program is available on major U.S. carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier, device, and network coverage, and SpecialistsMAT does not guarantee that any message will be delivered or received on time. Do not rely on text messages as your only reminder of an appointment.
6. Health information and security
Text messaging is not a secure or encrypted form of communication. To protect your privacy, our messages are written to avoid diagnoses, test results, medication names, and details of your treatment. Please do not send us health information, medical questions, or urgent requests by text; call our office instead. The Program is not for emergencies. In an emergency, call 911. For a mental health or substance use crisis, call or text 988. If you lose your phone or change your number, tell us promptly so we can update or stop messages.
7. Your responsibilities
You agree to give us an accurate mobile number, to tell us if it changes or is reassigned, and not to use the Program for any unlawful purpose. If you share your phone with others, they may see our messages.
8. Privacy
We handle information collected through the Program as described in our Privacy Policy and, for health information, our Notice of Privacy Practices. We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or text messaging opt-in data and consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share it only with service providers who help us operate the Program and are bound to protect it.
9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The Program is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, SpecialistsMAT is not liable for any delay, failure, or error in sending or receiving messages, for actions taken or not taken based on a message, or for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Program. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under federal or Kentucky law that cannot be waived.
10. Changes and termination
We may change these Terms or end the Program at any time. Material changes will be posted at our website with a new effective date. Continuing to receive messages after a change means you accept the updated Terms; you may opt out at any time.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and applicable federal law.
